Account & Sign In
You sign in with Sign in with Apple. We receive your Apple-assigned user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address. We use this to create your account and track your trial or subscription status. We never see your Apple password.
AI Summaries
When you request a paper summary or Professor Snapshot, the paper's text (or its abstract/metadata) is sent to our backend, which forwards it to Google's Gemini API to generate the summary. Generated summaries are cached on our server by a hash of the content — not by your identity — so identical requests from any user can reuse the same result instead of triggering a new AI call.
Research Data
Researcher profiles, publications, and topics are sourced from OpenAlex and Semantic Scholar, both public academic databases. We cache their responses on our server to reduce redundant requests, shared across all users rather than tied to your account.
Bookmarks & Collections
Bookmarked researchers/papers and any collections you create (including uploaded PDFs) are stored on our server, associated with your account, so they sync across your devices. Text extracted from a PDF you upload may be cached server-side by paper identity so the same paper doesn't need re-processing if you or another user references it again — this cache isn't linked to who uploaded it.
What We Don't Do
We don't use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. We don't sell your data. We don't share your account information with anyone outside the service providers listed above (Apple, Google Gemini, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar) that are necessary to run the app.
Deleting Your Data
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data (bookmarks, collections, usage history) at any time from Settings → Delete Account. This is immediate and can't be undone.
